Good Neighbours Make Great Partners!
Irving Oil Announces Enhanced Outdoor Space for South Woodside Elementary
HALIFAX, NS — Irving Oil is delighted to announce it will be rebuilding the outdoor play area at South Woodside Elementary School, in Dartmouth, NS. Upgrades will include re-grading the existing area and finishing the surface with fresh asphalt. Once the foundational elements are complete, basketball nets will be installed and court lines applied. Work will continue throughout the summer months and be complete in time for the new school year.
“Our students and community members will be over the moon excited to have this outdoor basketball area for their use,” said Mary-Paula MacEachern, Principal of South Woodside School. “What a wonderful way to engage the community and for Irving Oil to show their commitment towards supporting South Woodside and investing in its youngest citizens! Having an enhanced play area will keep kids active, fit and enthusiastic about the community they live in. We wish to thank Irving Oil for being such a great community partner.”
“We have a long history of working with our neighbours and we’re committed to giving back to the communities where we live and work,” said Michael Thompson, Director of Logistics and Distribution at Irving Oil. “As we continue to progress in the reactivation of our Woodside Marine Terminal, we’re grateful for the opportunity to support South Woodside Elementary; we know that its students and the local community will enjoy the enhanced play space.”
This community investment comes just months after Irving Oil announced it will be reactivating its existing Woodside Marine Terminal, also located in Dartmouth. That project’s construction phase is expected to last approximately 18 months and create more than 200 jobs during construction, injecting over $30 million of employment income into the provincial economy.
