Our Team. Our Home.
Irving Oil Unveils New Head Office
SAINT JOHN, NB — Irving Oil today shared with employees and the community its plans for its new, 11-storey home office building in Saint John, New Brunswick. The building will bring approximately 1,000 Irving Oil employees together under one roof in a classic yet modern workspace that is designed to complement and enhance the existing heritage landscape of uptown Saint John. The new home office will be built at King’s Square South, next door to the iconic Imperial Theatre.
“Our people and our community have been the foundation for our Company’s success for over 90 years,” says Arthur Irving, Chairman of Irving Oil. “Our new head office represents our longstanding commitment to Saint John, New Brunswick and our home in the Maritimes — we are here for the long haul.”
Currently, Irving Oil has approximately 1,000 people working in five separate offices in Saint John.
“These locations have served us well over the years, but in order to continue to thrive in a very competitive industry, the efficiency of having our entire team in one building has driven our decision to invest in a new home office space,” says Ian Whitcomb, President of Irving Oil. “We have confidence in Saint John and our province. We are proud of our community, and we couldn’t succeed without your support.”
“Our priority is ensuring we’re creating something that not only fits the character of our city, but also becomes a landmark we can all be proud of,” says Sarah Irving, Executive Vice-President of Irving Oil. “Our building will honour the historic nature of our city and pay tribute to our company’s values and traditions.”
Toronto-based architectural firm, B + H Architects, and landscape architect, Alex Novell, are working with Irving Oil on the design for the new building. The building’s design will integrate the rich culture and history of Saint John into the features of the building, taking care to respect the scale and historic nature of King’s Square, while enhancing the overall environment.
The project will be registered with the Canada Green Building Council, targeting certification under their LEED Green building rating system – which is recognized in the industry as the premier Green Building rating system. LEED certification will ensure the building is designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health.
Uniting employees under one roof in the uptown Saint John area will not only foster collaboration with the Irving Oil team but will bring with it tremendous benefits to local businesses.
Site preparation and construction on the new home office is scheduled to begin in Spring 2016.
